Bangladesh

Telenor holds a 62 per cent ownership interest in GrameenPhone in Bangladesh, the country's leading provider of mobile communication services. GrameenPhone currently holds both a GSM 900 and a GSM 1800 license. The Bangladeshi government has not yet announced any plans to issue UMTS licenses.

ProMonte was established in 1996 and was Montenegro's first mobile operator. ProMonte remains the country's largest mobile provider. Telenor became part owner in 1996 and acquired a 100% ownership of ProMonte in August 2004.

Russia

VimpelCom was established in 1992, and operates under the Bee Line brand in Russia. VimpelCom was the first Russian company to list its securities on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), in November 1996. Today VimpelCom covers 94 per cent of the Russian population. Current ownership interest is 29.9 per cent.

Serbia

Telenor acquired 100 per cent of Mobi 63 after an auction in Serbia on 31 July 2006. The company is the second largest mobile operator in Serbia.

Thailand

DTAC is listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. The company was founded in August 1989. In 2000, Telenor strengthened its Asian presence, acquiring a stake in Thai mobile operator Total Access Communication (DTAC). In October 2005, Telenor increased its ownership in DTAC. Economic exposure: 69.3%.
