Noom lets you make mobile calls using names instead of phone numbers. Companies, who want to be more easily available for their customers, can now market company name and brands in stead of telephone numbers.
Noom replaces telephone numbers with symbolic names, a parallel to Internet domain names replacing the TCP/IP address. By just sending an SMS with only a name to a shortcode specified by Noom or the operator, Noom will connect the call. Noom finds the corresponding phone number in the Noom database. Simply write a valid Noom and send it to a service number and a call-back connection will be established.
In addition to the call traffic, operators can have income from yearly subscriptions for the database entries. Advanced services, like automatic routing of calls to the nearest dealer or store, is one of the extra income sources.
End users like to call directly to companies, especially if it is a toll free call from their mobile. In Norway users can use the Noom keyword Taxi and they will be connected diirectly to the nearest available taxi driver or taxi station. This functionality is available for distributors who will route traffic to nearest dealer or store as a service to customers.
